Louise Polzel, LCSW
Executive Director
Louise Polzel is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a background in trauma-informed care and substance use treatment. She earned her Master’s in Clinical Social Work, with a sub-concentration in Military Social Work, from the University of Southern California in 2016, and a Master of Studies in Law focused on Healthcare Compliance in 2023.
Since 2016 she has worked in substance use treatment, pairing her experience as a trauma-focused therapist with a commitment to compassionate, accountable care.
Dr. Christian Small, MD
Medical Director
Dr. Christian Small is board certified in addiction psychiatry, general psychiatry and family medicine. He founded Headlands Addiction Treatment Services, which provides medical and psychiatric care to substance use and mental health programs.
He previously worked as an addiction psychiatrist with the Veterans Administration in La Jolla and at the University of California San Diego. He is a graduate of the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine and completed residencies in Psychiatry and Family Medicine at UCSD.
Kevin Schroeder
Director of Business Development
Before moving into behavioral health, Kevin spent more than a decade in digital advertising with e-commerce companies in the Los Angeles area, and in 2017 he launched his own digital marketing agency.
He later shifted his focus to substance use treatment, leading admissions and marketing for two treatment centers on the Big Island of Hawaii.
