Connecting with the BMRC Alumni Community: Events, Activities, and Support

Staying connected with fellow alumni from BMRC can be an essential part of maintaining a sober lifestyle. Our alumni community is a supportive network designed to help you navigate the challenges of recovery by connecting with those who understand your journey. Here’s how you can stay involved, participate in our events, and benefit from our activities.

How to Find Us for Alumni Meetings/Events

Being a part of the Alumni Facebook Group is the primary way to stay informed about upcoming meetings and events. Since this group is exclusive to alumni, you’ll need to be accepted to join, ensuring a safe and private space for all members. We also send out email reminders about events to keep everyone updated. Currently, our main events are the Alumni BBQ and Zoom call, held on Saturdays at 6:00 PM.

Links to Events

The link to our Alumni Zoom call is posted in the BMRC Alumni Facebook Group and also sent out via email reminders. This ensures that access remains exclusive to our alumni community. For the latest updates and links, make sure you’re an active member of the Facebook group and keep an eye on your email inbox or email us for more information.

The Importance of the Alumni Community

The journey to sobriety can be challenging, and having a strong support system is crucial. Our alumni community offers a unique form of support:

  • Shared Experiences: Sometimes, words aren’t necessary; those who have walked in your shoes already understand what you’re going through.
  • Longevity in Recovery: Being part of a supportive community is an effective tool for maintaining a sober lifestyle.
  • Wisdom and Advice: Fellow alumni can provide valuable insights and advice based on their own experiences.
  • Combating Isolation: Joining the community helps remove the hurdle of isolation, providing comfort and companionship through tough times.

Call and Email Check-Ins

To ensure ongoing support, we conduct regular check-ins:

  • 30, 60, and 90 Days After Discharge: We make calls to see how you’re doing and offer any needed support.
  • Yearly Emails and Sometimes Calls: We like to check in annually to maintain the connection and remind you that you’re always a part of the BMRC family. Once a Bella, always a Bella.
