My professional background is in clinical and I utilize its foundations as my guide for all aspects of Bella Monte Recovery Center™ programming. My employment experience as a therapist has occurred in a variety of settings – my heart beats strongest in my workings with clients of recovery. I lead in the spirit of love and compassion and in the belief that all people are innately good. Too many people have simply forgotten we are all worthy of love and happiness, both in the constructs of livability and enjoy-ability.

Colleen holds a Masters of Arts, Marriage and Family Therapy, University of San Diego, California. She also has a BA in Humanities with a minor in Philosophy and Religion, Daeman College, Buffalo, NY. and a Mental Health Executive Leadership Program Certificate from Case Western University.

Medical Director - MD, Psychiatrist

A board certified psychiatrist with extensive experience in proper psychiatric diagnosis, of all forms of psychotherapy. Focusing on dual diagnosis, addictionology, medication treatments for anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, schizoaffective disorder and schizophrenia. Medical Director of numerous drug and alcohol treatment centers.

Ramesh holds a doctorate degree in clinical psychology and is a licensed marriage and family therapist. With more than 25 years experience in the mental health field, his clinical credentials include extensive training in EMDR, mind/body healing techniques, Hypnotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodrama, Mindfulness, and Yogic psychology/philosophy.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from San Diego State, followed by my achievement of a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family from California State University, Long Beach. My staffing positions at Bella Monte Recovery Center™ started as a therapist and then clinical team lead, prior to becoming Program Director. I lead in the spirit of love and compassion and in the belief that all people are innately good. Too many people have simply forgotten we are all worthy of love and happiness, both in the constructs of livability and enjoy-ability. It is my steadfast belief that sobriety, happiness and fulfillment can coexist within the lives of all persons.”

Bella Monte Recovery Center™ Counselor Brett Northrup, works with each individual client to provide them with the essential tools they require to begin a successful recovery from their addiction(s). Brett proudly served in the U. S. Army, Graduated from the College of the Desert’s – Human Services/Alcohol and Drug credentialing program and is currently registered with the California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals. Brett utilizes evidence-based practices coupled the 12-Step recovery process ensuring the most effective and useful interventions are made available to clients throughout their treatment time at Bella Monte Recovery Center™ .

As a counselor at Bella Monte Recovery Center™, Selena is a believer that love and kindness can change the world, one human being at a time. This firm belief drives her professional passions towards the field of addiction, and in the assisting of each client’s healing process. Selena specializes in mindfulness and DBT and teaches these skills in the Bella Monte Recovery Center™ group settings. A mother and a student Selena enjoys her work and being a part of the inspirational family at Bella Monte Recovery Center™ .

Leslie is a co-ed counselor at Bella Monte Recovery Center™. Her three years of counseling experience followed her successful internship at Bella Monte Recovery Center™. Specializing in relationships and codependency, Leslie works to empower clients to face their original family pain and trauma, in order to learn self love and in receiving love from others. Leslie’s personal journey of healing has taught her, that all people no matter how far down they may have gone, have worth and the ability for transformations in their life.

Devin is a certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor through CCAPP, along with Motivational Interviewing, Problem-Solving Therapy and Anger Management rounding out his professional tool box.

Gayle received her BA in Political Science at San Diego State University and also certified and worked as a paralegal. Celebrating her own recovery of 30 years, Gayle strives to create an atmosphere of acceptance to all Bella Monte Recovery Center™ residence. Gayle has been with Bella Monte Recovery Center™ for almost 5 years.

Francisco Avalos, Lead Medical Assistant and Chemical Dependency Technician at Bella Monte Recovery Center™ brings his warmth, sincerity and devotion to our clients as they navigate the medical protocols of recovery. Fransisco, a graduate of the Medical Program at Kaplan College, has amassed over 4 years of experience as a medical assistant, coupled with his 5 years plus of Managerial and Customer Service experience. Working in continuity with our Medical Director, Fransisco cares for our clients medical needs, advising them on any new medications needed in early recovery, onto managing any pre-existing conditions while in treatment.

As a native of Coachella Valley, Dylan serves as Admissions Director at Bella Monte Recovery Center™. Working closely with clients, associates and community Dylan brings unparalleled passion and dedication to helping others, along with her experiences of an ever strengthening sobriety of over 10 years. Her industry experience as Admissions Director at other prestigious treatment centers along with her community involvement of 15 years of volleyball coaching and swim instructor-ship, all exemplify her commitment in both heart and soul for helping others. Dylan completed the HSAD program at College of the Desert and is furthering her education in achieving a CCADAC II. Living out her dream, Dylan generously shares her compassion and first hand knowledge in assisting addicts and alcoholics to find hope through sobriety.

Bella Monte Recovery Center™ Director of Operations, Devin Thornton brings first-hand knowledge and vast recovery community experience. Devin is a certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor through CCAPP, along with Motivational Interviewing, Problem-Solving Therapy and Anger Management rounding out his professional tool box. Formerly a Bella Monte Recovery Center™ counselor, Devin utilizes his skilled modalities to offer clients the tools needed to begin and sustain their journey to recovery and the living of a meaningful life. As Director of Operations he is enthusiastically involved in all aspects of treatment, including client-centered care, staff training and facilities management. Devin’s education and experience helps assure our clients wage a successful battle against addiction and find renewed health and joy.

Kurt holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing with over 30 years of business experience. During the past 7 years he has developed a professional predilection in Chemical Dependency, Pain Recovery and Sexual Compulsivity coupled with Mental Health. Kurt’s passion of sharing with others in their recovery experience, personal strength and daily hope comes from his understanding of the recovery journey. His strength is in connecting professionals in the recovery industry to individuals in need. Kurt supports the Bella Monte Recovery Center™ by facilitating industry relationships, developing  resources and fostering a culture of sound recovery from substance abuse and co occurring addictive behaviors.

Terry holds a Masters Degree in Management and a Bachelors in Business Administration. He has over 25 years experience working in Substance Abuse and Mental Health Expertise and is working with Unions and Employee Assistance Professionals. Terry has experience working with the two largest Behavioral Health providers in the United States; Universal Health Services and Acadia Heatlh. His previous Leadership experience was as Executive Director of a 32 Bed Substance Abuse facility and CEO of a 215 bed State Hospital.

As Bella Monte Recovery Center™ Case Manager, Jenny is dedicated to creating individualized after care plans, to guide and assist our clients on their continuing path of sobriety upon departing Residential Treatment. A native of the Coachella Valley and 2010 graduate of Chapman University with a BFA in Studio Art, Jenny’s professional passion and perseverance of experience in the Mental Health/Behavioral Healthcare settings, assist clients in navigating their daily existence in early recovery.

Evelyn Espindola, Bella Monte Recovery Center™ Business Office Manager extends her valued knowledge of customer service experience to facility operations. Her management background at an award winning resort and spa easily translates to the seamless catering care she extends to the needs of our staff, clients and associates. Evelyn is integral to the smooth operations and client centered care of the entire Bella Monte team.

Devarshi is our Bella Monte Recovery Center™ Yoga and Spiritual Coordinator. His wealth of knowledge and experience in wellness practices for mind, body, spirit bring authentic elevations to each client’s recovery experience. Co-founder of Pranotthan Yoga School, former dean of the Kripalu School of Yoga and former Director of Professional Trainings at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, Lenox MA.

Mark is the founder of Evoke Peace Now, a spiritual education organization that shares positive and practical spiritual practices and principles. Mark brings these principles to the Bella Monte Recovery Center™. The curriculum includes developing a meaningful, structured and intentional daily program of recovery. Clients are guided and supported in developing a solid ground emotional regulation, contentment and connection with a depth of inner peace & wholeness. Mark’s mission is to share practical, meaningful, and interesting tools to help clients live a confident, grounded and successful sober life.

Nigel Clarke, originally of Jamaica, has been on the Bella Monte Recovery Center™ Support Services Staff for four years. Nigel is certified in Housekeeping Management, food and beverage service, as well as environmental studies. Nigel’s previous professional experience as a business owner on his home island allows him an ease with people and employs his enjoyment for helping others. It is his joy to be able to assist clients at Bella Monte Recovery Center™ and always strives to insures their meals are served at the correct temperature and with the kindness of Caribbean care.
